A.A.’s Roots in the Bible
A.A. Co-founder Dr. Bob stated frequently that the Book of James, Jesus’ sermon on the mount, and 1 Corinthians 13 were absolutely essential in the early A.A. program, along with some of the life-changing ideas of the Oxford Group. Clarence Snyder said that 2 Corinthians 5:17 was the key to his recovery. So popular was the Book of James that early AAs wanted to call their society The James Club.
At our James Club Meeting, we use the Good Book [Bible] & Big Book to study line by line, and verse by verse the relevance of All the Bible segments to A.A. principles, practices, and basic ideas. Many fellowships, in and outside of A.A., are using this James Club method.
This is an entirely new way of bringing people to recovery through a line by line study and comparison of the Bible verses and Oxford teachings with the relevant Big Book and Twelve Step ideas which they spawned. This proven method of applying the exact principles and practices of the early A.A. Christian Fellowship in Akron and Cleveland, Ohio where they had a 75-93% success rate with newcomers [first timers], those thought hopeless, still works today!
We welcome you to join us every Tuesday @7pm for our James Club Good & Big Book Step Study at 11911 Elbert Street, Clermont, FL 34711.
